FERGUSON BACKS WRONG HORSE
A certain Dutchman might allow himself a smile this morning as he soaks up the sun in Madrid. After a summer where the Rag's arguably greatest ever striker was unceremoniously show the door after falling out with the Managers pet, Ronaldo, all must look rosy in the Nistelrooy household especially if he caught the embarrassing capitulation by ManU at home to Arsenal
This wasnt just a defeat for ManU, this was as one-sided as you would ever see at Old Trafford. Wengers team of youngsters and reserves put ManU to the sword with Sir Alexs team 2nd to the ball for most of the game. But it was up front where the Rags lack of class showed most. Saha was anonymous, Solskjaer had a good shot saved, Rooney who must really be considering his Old Trafford future now, continued his poor form since joining ManU and was embarrassingly subbed. And what of the portuguese crybaby who managed to single-handedly push a legend out of the premiership?
Well the Managers golden boy, who was deemed more important to ManU than a striker of the quality of RVN, was as impotent and wayward as ever. During yesterdays game, Tiny Tears wasted 2 free kicks, failed continuously to provide crosses for his forwards and whose best effort was to hammer the ball into Jens Lehmann's face when it was easier to score. Oh, and he gave the ball away for Arsenals goal, when he decided a few stepovers was more important than getting the ball out of immediate danger. Not good then. A performance that may have even Clownaldos biggest cheerleaders amongst the rag support considering the wisdom of Redfaces decision.
The worrying thing for ManU is theyll play better teams this season and you cant see where the goals are coming from. Even if Saha or Rooney were capable of 20 goals a season, they know they wont get the service if Ronaldo is in the team, just as Ruud found out. But hes now in a team where they play to his strengths and has a manager who values his contribution more than petulant diving show pony. So Ruud is happy and scoring again, and while he lost the battle to stay at OT, he knows there's a good chance he will win the war in the long run.
