OUTRAGE AS TEVEZ AND MASCHERANO HEAD FOR GIGG LANE?
The biggest story of this season or perhaps any premiership season is the arrival of Argentinean superstars Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez at West Ham. On the face of it, this seems a major coup for West Ham and indeed the premiership but the big question everyone is asking is how West Ham, a third rate club by anyone's standards was their preferred destination? Surely a club with huge debts and obnoxious cockney pikey fans such as West Ham couldn't afford two of the most sought after young players in world football? Who is this shadowy company MSI and who owns them? The press have been pointing accusing fingers towards West London and Roman Abramovich, but for the first time I can reveal just who is bankrolling the deal and why Man U were so reluctant to pursue their signatures.
What is known, is that in January, Ex-president of MSI, Kia Joorabchian sold his stake in the company to a Salford based cartel called Sporting Duvet Holdings for 7m. But what no-one has realised before now is that this company is a front for the Phoenix Fund and FC United. For the last year they have been faced with the sticky problem of how to invest the millions they fleeced from rag fans during the Glazer-Out Campaign. The Fund have toyed with the idea of buying a pub and have recently put in a bid for the Shaston Arms, a well known haunt for homosexuals and city-types in London's Soho, but even this purchase would hardly put a dent in the bulging FC United coffers. It was then that well known FC United activist and joke singer Peter Boyle was approached to represent them in the highly profitable world of South American transfer deals. Within weeks Boyle had set up a deal with MSI where both players would move to Europe in return for a share of player merchandising. A Red Issue insider takes up the story:
"Boyle did a superb job. MSI were really sceptical about what Manyoo fans would buy but he showed them the official site and once they saw some of the crap being peddled on there, they were all for it. The ideal plan is for the two Argies to get acclimatised to the premiership and then join FC United once they get into the Conference. Obviously if things don't go to plan then we're still left with two major assets to sell on. We approached several premiership clubs including Man U, and Ferguson was interested in both players at first, but once he met Peter Boyle and realised who was involved in both deals, he flew into a rage. Gill had no choice but to pull out and pursue Hargreaves so we settled for West Ham."
So far FC United have preferred to keep silent on the deal, but it is significant that neither Joorabchian or West Ham chairman Terry Brown have made any mention of FC United in their press statements confirming the signings.. As far as FIFA and the Premier league are concerned there is nothing illegal about FC Uniteds investment in foreign players as the rules do not cover non-league teams, but its clear that FC United's plans go much further than that. as my source explains:
.We left ManU because they couldn't deliver on the kind of glory plastic rags expect and demand. The whole idea of FC United was to out-commercialise Man U so the skys the limit as far as we're concerned. Nothing has been settled yet, and the possibility of buying-out West Ham and transferring the FC United name to them has not been ruled out
Whether the emergence of FC United will worry the rest of the premiership just yet remains to be seen, but the repercussions of a direct rival to Man U arriving slap bang in cockneyland, a region of traditional core rag support, will have the moneymen at Old Trafford in a cold sweat.
