The Scottish Enlightenment - Volo Ut Sis
Posted on 24/05/06 at 09:41 by macster
Dunfermline four-piece The Scottish Enlightenment deliver an album of intelligently-written, well-crafted, indie guitar rock. Opening with the percussive drumming and soaring chorus of 'Metaphysics of Despair', Dave Moyes and his gang meditate on the human condition, bringing in a broad spectrum of influences on a CD that refuses to fit neatly with any particular scene. The bristling melancholia of 'The Universe Is Drifting Apart', the blues-tinged political snarl of 'Leviathan', and in particular the breezy pop of 'Blue, Green & Yellow', these are songs that deserve to be heard by a wider audience.
