| Chilli Beef Ramen for 2 tubby's |
| Posted on 15/11/05 at 11:18 by indenial blah blah blah |
You will need for this assault on your taste buds:
1 red chilli
1 stem of ginger(about half the size of ya thumb)
2 cloves of garlic
Soy sauce
olive oil
300g of sirloin steak(or thereabouts dependant on how tubby you are)per person
2 blocks of ramen noodles per person
1 pack of bean sprouts
handful of coriander
1 red onion
beef stock
vegetable stock
1/2 lime
preparation is the key to this dish first and foremost as it shouldn't take a long time to actually cook.
Chop your red onion into thin slices, halve the chilli then chop up one half and slice the other.
wash your coriander.
Invite a good friend over, grab a few beers from the fridge and begin phase one: the steak.
Onto a plate pour about 3 lugs of oil, into this sprinkle on your chopped garlic/chilli and crushed ginger, a dash of salt and pepper and for loonies, a few drops of tabasco. Liberally apply soy sauce and mix the lot together.
Get a good bit of sirloin(the belt of fat is useful here)and wash it, pat dry with a kitchen paper and then lay it directly into the marinade. Rub both sides of the steak well and then leave it in there.
Boil roughly 2 pints of stock and throw in your stock cubes. 1 of each should do if you're cooking for 2......leave to boil and throw in some salt and pepper.
Put a griddle pan on to a medium heat hob and leave.
Now start on the noodles and the beansprouts. Place ya noodles into boiling water for a minute and a half. For the last 10 seconds dish in a couple a handfuls of beansprouts and then drain. Rinse under cold water, shake off and leave for a second. While the steak's cooking whack your noodles into a bog ol bowl.
Your griddle should be demon hot by this point and your steak should be covered in marinade so whack it/them into the pan for a minute and a half - 2 minutes each side. This should have it medium rare and smells fucking ace. Pour the rest of the marinade into the stock. All the while your friend should be regaling you with stories of his brutal weekend, and passing a spliff back and forth.
Whack the steak onto a chopping board and slice it into strips, the belt of chewy goodness should hold it all together. Stick the steak on top of the noodles and then garnish with the red onion, coriander, the red chilli and 1/4 of lime. Pour on the soup and marvel at the greatness in front of you. Grab another beer and enjoy. Finish, feel fat, batter the aforementioned friend at PES5.
